The weather was chilly, but sunny and the student had much fun playing on the huge snow banks. This coming week, in the spirit of Valentine's Day, the grade 7/8 class will be selling CandyGrams at the start of lunch.  For $1.00 students can purchase a CandyGram and write a special message to a friend. On Friday these messages will be attached to lollipops and delivered to the recipient.  There will also be k-3 and 4-8 dances in the gym on February 12th. Students will be able to purchase a treat at the canteen. It has passed very quickly.We have excellent EQAO results to share this year, with huge gains in 5 out of six areas. Our teachers are working very hard with all our students to maintain this excellent progress.Please join me in welcoming Mrs. DeJong to the Prince Charles Public School staff. She will be our new grade 3/4 teacher. She is busy connecting with Miss Jasper to keep routines and learning going and setting the classroom up for Monday. Class photographs were taken today! With mixed feelings, I am sharing that Miss Jasper, our grade 3/4 teacher will be leaving PCPS at the end of the week. We will miss her spirit and dedication to teaching and learning. She will be transferring to a school closer to her home where she has been promoted to a Student Support Teacher. Congratulations and best wishes from all of us at Prince Charles Public School.News about our new teacher will be communicated next week. Have you ever seen so many snowy days? Next week brings colder weather and, perhaps, more snow. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather with extra mittens and socks. We play outside for two recesses everyday (unless there are frigid temperatures or heavy rain). The temperature can vary by many degrees day to day. The next school council meeting will be January 27th at 5pm in the library. If the weather is bad, the meeting will be virtual. We play outside for two recesses everyday (unless there are frigid temperatures or heavy rain). The temperature can vary by many degrees day to day. Students may buy $1 gifts for their families. Please send a fabric shopping bag or gift bag with your child to bring their treasures home.All of our 8 classes will be performing at the Holiday Concert on December 16th. To make sure that we have time for all of the performances, the Holiday Concert will begin at 1:30 pm in the gym. Our dress rehearsal will bein at 9:15. Enter our draw on SchoolDay to win the best seats in the house.The Pizza lunch has been moved to Wednesday, December 17 due to the timing of the concert.The cake raffle is also on December 17th.The holiday lunch will be served on December 18th. Please send a reusable plastic plate and real cutlery with your child. We wish to eliminate the waste caused by disposable plates and plastic cutlery. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity. Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a deficit budget balanced through the use of reserve funds.The approved budget complies with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Operating expenditures of $316.8 million, representing a $73,000 decrease compared to the previous year.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Capital expenditures of $23.7 million, allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.</li></ul>The vast majority of the operating budget is directed to student instruction and relates directly to classroom support.
