The junior and intermediate floor hockey teams represented us well at the small schools tournament. Tuesday is senior basketball at Queens. The permission form is on SchoolDay.On Thursday there will be a kindrgarten to grade three and a grade 4 to grade 8 dance in the gym. Admission is free. Students may buy a chocolate bar and juice box combo or a chips and juice box combo for $2. All proceeds will go towards the Grade 7/8 end of year celebration. Report cards went home today. The weather was chilly, but sunny and the student had much fun playing on the huge snow banks. This coming week, in the spirit of Valentine's Day, the grade 7/8 class will be selling CandyGrams at the start of lunch.  For $1.00 students can purchase a CandyGram and write a special message to a friend. On Friday these messages will be attached to lollipops and delivered to the recipient.  There will also be k-3 and 4-8 dances in the gym on February 12th. Students will be able to purchase a treat at the canteen. It has passed very quickly.We have excellent EQAO results to share this year, with huge gains in 5 out of six areas. Our teachers are working very hard with all our students to maintain this excellent progress.Please join me in welcoming Mrs. DeJong to the Prince Charles Public School staff. She will be our new grade 3/4 teacher. She is busy connecting with Miss Jasper to keep routines and learning going and setting the classroom up for Monday. About Our School

Welcome to Prince Charles Public School located in Verona. Our Kindergarten to Grade 8 school provides students with many positive experiences in their academic studies, athletic skill development and the various arts, while promoting community involvement and positive character development. We invite parents and guardians to work cooperatively with our staff to ensure our students are provided with as many wonderful opportunities as possible. We have an active roster of volunteers and offer you the invitation to become part of our team.

Message to Families - February 11, 2026

Dear Families, The Limestone District School Board is deeply saddened to learn of the horrific events that took place yesterday impacting a school and community in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.  No words can adequately express our condolences to those affected. Our hearts are with the students, families, and community members who have been directly impacted by this awful event. While there are many national and international events that affect people on a daily or weekly basis, events impacting schools have an impact on everyone attached to schools and education. Significant events like these, that are in the public eye and heavily featured on news and social media, can have an impact on students and families in different ways. These impacts may look different for each person and be impacted by their source(s) of information and/or media coverage. We are here to offer support. The board’s Educational Services team is available to support students and families as needed. Educational Services has prepared the following tips to help families support students during this time: <ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Recognize that students may become concerned that something bad will happen to themselves, family, or friends. Explain that safety measures are in place and reassure them that you and other adults will take care of them. </li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">If your student is not focused on what happened, avoid dwelling on it or having detailed adult conversations in front of younger students. However, be available to answer questions to the best of your ability. Young students may not be able to express themselves verbally. Pay attention to changes in their behaviour or social interactions. </li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">For some, limiting exposure to media coverage or other sources of information may be important, particularly when social media platforms contain significant amounts of misinformation or disinformation. Images of a horrific event can become overwhelming, especially if watched repetitively. Young students may not be able to distinguish between images on television or their screen, and their personal reality. For older students who choose to watch the news or scroll social media stories related to the event, be available to discuss what they see and to help put it into perspective. </li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Be aware of your own needs. Do not ignore your own feelings of anxiety and concern or anger. Talking to friends, family members, and mental health counsellors can help.
