🐾 Panther Post 🐾
Happy Friday, Panther Families!
What a beautiful fall week we've had at Prince Charles! The cooler weather and colourful leaves have made for some wonderful outdoor learning and play opportunities. As we enjoy the changing season, we'd like to share a few important updates and reminders.
🦟 Tick Season Reminder
With students spending lots of time outdoors, we are finding ticks both crawling on students and attached to students on a daily basis. While we encourage children to enjoy the outdoors, we ask families to help by performing a daily tick check each evening, especially after spending time in wooded, grassy, or leaf-covered areas. Early detection is the best way to prevent complications from tick bites.
🎃 Halloween Fun - Friday, October 30
We will be celebrating Halloween with a Black and Orange Spirit Day and a school dance on Friday, October 30!
Students who would like to participate in the dance are asked to bring a $2 donation, with proceeds supporting student activities at our school.
Our School Advisory Council (SAC) will also be hosting a Cake Auction. Keep an eye on School Day and their Facebook group for information about purchasing ballots and participating in this exciting event!
🎁 Dollar Christmas Sale Donations
It's never too early to start preparing for one of our favourite holiday traditions! Beginning in November, we will be accepting donations for our Dollar Christmas Sale.
We're looking for:
- Gently used items suitable for gifting
- Gift bags and packing materials
- Wrapping paper
- Bows, ribbons, and other gift-wrapping supplies
Thank you in advance for helping make this special event possible for our students.
📅 PA Day Reminder
A reminder that Monday is a PA Day, so there will be no school for students.
We hope you enjoy a wonderful long weekend with family and friends. Thank you for your continued support of our school. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday for another great week of learning and fun!
Have a fantastic long weekend, Panthers! 🖤🧡🐾

Concussion Protocols
The Limestone District School Board is committed to helping all students succeed and lead safe, healthy, and active lives. As part of its commitment to student safety, injury prevention, and well-being, the Ministry of Education supports concussion awareness, prevention, identification, management, tracking, and training in schools through legislation, policy, and resources.
On March 7, 2018, the Ontario government enacted Rowan’s Law (Concussion Safety), 2018, and amended the Education Act, to protect amateur athletes, including students, by improving concussion safety on the field and at school. The amendments to the Education Act came into force on July 1, 2019, and give the Minister of Education the authority to require school boards to comply with policy and guidelines on concussions, consistent with Rowan’s Law.
All school boards in Ontario are required to have a policy on concussion safety for students. These are outlined in Administrative Procedure 142: Concussions, as well as a variety of supporting resources and documents that outline a code of conduct for students and families, flow charts to identify and diagnose a concussion and assessment and management forms. The Ontario Physical Activity and Safety Standards in Education has information on their website regarding the concussion protocol.
Concussion awareness resources:
- Concussion awareness resources ages 10 and under
- Concussion awareness resources ages 11 to 14
