Happy Friday, Panther Families!
What an incredible first week of school! Our halls have been filled with excitement, smiles, and the energy that comes with new beginnings. It has been a wonderful week of getting to know our students, and I am already seeing what makes Prince Charles such a special place to learn and grow.
As I get to know your children, I would also like to introduce myself. My name is Mistene Clapp, and I am honoured to be the new Principal of Prince Charles Public School. This marks my 22nd year in education and my first year as a principal, making this an exciting new chapter for me as well.
My family and I live in Camden East, and I am proud to say that my own children attended a small rural school, much like Prince Charles. We also have two dogs who keep us busy! When I'm not at school, you can usually find me at the barn, at a hockey rink, or curled up at home with a good book.
One of my favourite parts of the day is greeting students and families during morning bus duty. If you see someone wearing a bright fluorescent pink vest, that's probably me! Please don't hesitate to stop and say hello. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for your patience, support, and warm welcome as I learn new faces, names, and routines. Although I am new to Prince Charles, I already feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a caring and supportive school community. I am proud to be a member of the Panther family.

School Council Nominations and Elections 2026-2027
Parents and guardians are invited to become involved in the Prince Charles School Council. School Council plays an important role in supporting student achievement and well-being by fostering meaningful collaboration between families, staff, students, and the school community. Nominations will be due by September 22nd at 4PM, with our first official meeting on the 28th at 5 PM.

Positions for Election
Chair
The Chair works closely with the Principal, Vice-Principals, staff, families, and community members to support the work of School Council. Responsibilities include chairing meetings, setting agendas in consultation with school administration, facilitating discussion, communicating with the school board, sharing relevant information with council members, and supporting council initiatives and activities throughout the school year.
Vice-Chair / Co-Chair
The Vice-Chair supports the Chair and presides over meetings when the Chair is unavailable. This role also helps coordinate and oversee council-sponsored events, programs, and initiatives.
Treasurer
The Treasurer works with the council to develop and monitor budgets, maintains accurate financial records, prepares financial reports, and serves as a liaison regarding council finances.
Secretary
The Secretary attends council meetings, records and distributes meeting minutes, and maintains council records and documentation.
Indigenous Representative
This position supports the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives and voices within School Council initiatives and discussions. As a newer role, its responsibilities will continue to evolve in collaboration with council members and the school community.
Inclusive Education Coordinator
This position helps promote inclusive practices and supports conversations related to equity, belonging, accessibility, and student success.
Fundraising Coordinator
The Fundraising Coordinator plans and organizes fundraising activities in support of School Council priorities and works closely with the Treasurer regarding budgeting and financial reporting.
We encourage all interested parents and guardians to consider becoming involved. Your voice, experiences, and perspectives help strengthen our school community and support the success and well-being of all NDSS students.
Medical Plans of Care
If your student requires a medical plan (i.e., Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, etc.) or is required to take medication at school, please follow the smore below and have all paperwork completed by your family doctor as soon as possible.

School Supplies and Labelling
Our school will provide the necessary supplies that your student will need for learning. However, if you are looking for back-to-school suggestions from LDSB, here are a few things to think about bringing with you on the first day:
· Backpack
· Labelled water bottle
· Lunch bag with a peanut-free/nut-free lunch and snacks
· Personal pencil case to hold any supplies you may want to bring (pencils, erasers, scissors, ruler, pencil crayons, etc.)
· Indoor shoes to be left at school
· Extra clothes (Kindergarten/primary)
To avoid your student's clothing ending up in the lost and found, please consider labelling items, such as indoor and outdoor clothing, indoor and outdoor shoes, containers, school supplies, etc.

All visitors must buzz at the left side entrance (Right hand post by the front door). Families are to wait outside for their student. Please note all volunteers require a CPIC with vulnerable sector check.

Concussion Protocols
The Limestone District School Board is committed to helping all students succeed and lead safe, healthy, and active lives. As part of its commitment to student safety, injury prevention, and well-being, the Ministry of Education supports concussion awareness, prevention, identification, management, tracking, and training in schools through legislation, policy, and resources.
On March 7, 2018, the Ontario government enacted Rowan’s Law (Concussion Safety), 2018, and amended the Education Act, to protect amateur athletes, including students, by improving concussion safety on the field and at school. The amendments to the Education Act came into force on July 1, 2019, and give the Minister of Education the authority to require school boards to comply with policy and guidelines on concussions, consistent with Rowan’s Law.
All school boards in Ontario are required to have a policy on concussion safety for students. These are outlined in Administrative Procedure 142: Concussions, as well as a variety of supporting resources and documents that outline a code of conduct for students and families, flow charts to identify and diagnose a concussion and assessment and management forms. The Ontario Physical Activity and Safety Standards in Education has information on their website regarding the concussion protocol.
