🐾 Panther Post 🐾

Another Great Week at PCPS!

What an amazing week we've had here at Prince Charles Public School!

A huge congratulations goes out to our cross-country runners, who represented our school incredibly well at the Regional Meet. Our athletes demonstrated determination, perseverance, and excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. We are especially excited to celebrate two of our runners who will be moving on to Districts on October 20th! We wish them the very best as they continue their cross-country journey.

Our Senior Soccer Team also had a fantastic week, dominating at the local soccer tournament. We are so proud of the effort, teamwork, and Panther pride displayed by all of our players. Congratulations on a great season and a tremendous tournament performance.

Go Panthers! 💚💛

Parent Council Meeting

Our next Parent Council meeting will take place on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

We encourage all families to attend and learn more about the exciting initiatives and events being planned for our school community. Childcare will be provided for families who require it, making it easier for everyone to participate. We hope to see you there!

The Dollar Holiday Market is Coming Soon!

While it may feel early to start thinking about the holiday season, the school's holiday markey will be here before we know it!

This wonderful initiative provides families with an opportunity to donate gently used toys, games, books, and other children's items that are no longer being used at home. These donated treasures can then be selected by other families for children to gift to siblings and loved ones during the holiday season.

As you begin preparing for winter and cleaning out closets and playrooms, please consider setting aside items to donate. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

Bathroom Expectations

We are asking all families to please take a few moments to discuss appropriate bathroom behaviour with their children.

Recently, we have had a number of students using soap, toilet paper, and bathroom facilities inappropriately. While some students may see this as harmless fun, these behaviours can make others feel uncomfortable or unsafe when using the washrooms and can create unnecessary mess and waste.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of being respectful, responsible, and considerate of others in all areas of our school.

Welcome Back, Mrs. Jarvis!

Over the next few weeks, Mrs. Jarvis will be joining us at PCPS while I am away attending training sessions.

Mrs. Jarvis is looking forward to reconnecting with many familiar faces and seeing how much our students have grown and changed since she was last here. We know our Panthers will give her a warm PCPS welcome and continue to demonstrate the kindness, respect, and enthusiasm that make our school such a special place.

Thank you for your continued support of our school. It is wonderful to see our students thriving, participating in extracurricular activities, and contributing to the strong sense of community we share at PCPS.

Proud to be a Panther,

Concussion Protocols

The Limestone District School Board is committed to helping all students succeed and lead safe, healthy, and active lives. As part of its commitment to student safety, injury prevention, and well-being, the Ministry of Education supports concussion awareness, prevention, identification, management, tracking, and training in schools through legislation, policy, and resources.

On March 7, 2018, the Ontario government enacted Rowan’s Law (Concussion Safety), 2018, and amended the Education Act, to protect amateur athletes, including students, by improving concussion safety on the field and at school. The amendments to the Education Act came into force on July 1, 2019, and give the Minister of Education the authority to require school boards to comply with policy and guidelines on concussions, consistent with Rowan’s Law.

All school boards in Ontario are required to have a policy on concussion safety for students. These are outlined in Administrative Procedure 142: Concussions, as well as a variety of supporting resources and documents that outline a code of conduct for students and families, flow charts to identify and diagnose a concussion and assessment and management forms. The Ontario Physical Activity and Safety Standards in Education has information on their website regarding the concussion protocol.
