A Great Start to the School Year!
We made it through our first five-day week! In some ways, it's hard to believe we have only been in school for three weeks. Our students and staff have settled into routines, classrooms are buzzing with learning, and new friendships are being made every day. It has been wonderful to see our Panthers growing in confidence and becoming active members of our school community.
Staffing Updates
We have now received confirmation that Prince Charles Public School will operate with eight classes for the 2026-2027 school year. Our school continues to be a growing community with healthy enrollment, and we are excited about the year ahead.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Ms Scovill and Ms Silver for their support during our start-up period. Their hard work in helping organize our school and preparing students for a successful year is greatly appreciated.
We are also pleased to share the following staffing updates:
- Our Grade 2/3 class will be welcoming Ms Kelly as their teacher for the remainder of the school year.
- Ms Gilpin's Kindergarten class will be welcoming Ms Crocker as the Early Childhood Educator.
We are excited to have both of them join our Panther team!
Morning Supervision Reminder
A friendly reminder that students should not arrive at school before 8:50 a.m. Staff supervision begins at that time, and we are unable to provide supervision prior to 8:50 a.m.

Allergy Awareness
To help keep all of our students safe, please remember not to send nuts of any kind or pears in your child's lunch. We have students with severe anaphylactic allergies to these products, and we appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe learning environment.
Terry Fox School Run
Toonies for Terry begins this week! Our school fundraising goal is $1,000, and we are excited to support the Terry Fox Foundation once again.
Our Terry Fox Walk will take place on September 28th. Thank you in advance for supporting this wonderful Canadian tradition and helping us continue Terry's dream.
Fall Open House
We are excited to invite families to our Fall Open House on October 1st from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Families will have an opportunity to visit classrooms, meet staff, and celebrate the great start to the school year.
馃崸 Kona Ice will also be on site hosting a fundraiser in support of new Kindergarten yard equipment.

Parent Council Update
Parent Council nominations remain open until Tuesday. I will be contacting nominees next week, and elections will take place during our first official Parent Council meeting on Monday, September 28th at 5:00 p.m.
Parent Council plays an important role in supporting our school community, and we encourage all interested families to get involved.
Safe and Accepting Schools Team
At Prince Charles Public School, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every student feels valued and respected. As part of this commitment, every school is required to have a Safe and Accepting Schools Team that helps support and promote a positive school climate.
Our team is chaired by a staff member and includes the principal, a teacher, a non-teaching staff member or community partner, and, where appropriate, a student representative. We are currently looking for one parent/guardian volunteer to join our Safe and Accepting Schools Team this year. Meetings can take place before school, and parents are welcome to bring their child to participate when appropriate.
If you are interested in helping shape initiatives that support student well-being, inclusion, belonging, and school safety, please contact the school office. We would love to have your voice represented on this important team! 馃挋馃惥
Winter Clothing Support
Although autumn has only just arrived, we are already beginning to plan for winter. If your family may require support accessing winter boots or other winter clothing, please contact the school.
If you have not yet been contacted by Ms. Garden and would like more information about available supports, please reach out. We are committed to ensuring every student is warm, comfortable, and ready to learn throughout the winter months.
Volunteering at PCPS
We love having volunteers in our school!
If you plan to volunteer this year, please ensure your Vulnerable Sector Check has been completed within six months of your volunteer start date.
As part of a new Limestone District School Board process, South Frontenac Police checks are now completed online. You will need the updated LDSB school letter to attach to your application.
Once your police record check has been completed, please submit it through the https://filerequestpro.com/up/LDSB-police-records-check-submission-form. After it has been approved, you will be eligible to volunteer throughout the school year.
We understand this process takes time and appreciate your patience. Student safety is our highest priority, and we look forward to welcoming volunteers on school trips, in classrooms, and throughout our building.

School Council Nominations and Elections 2026-2027
Parents and guardians are invited to become involved in the Prince Charles School Council. School Council plays an important role in supporting student achievement and well-being by fostering meaningful collaboration between families, staff, students, and the school community. Nominations will be due by September 22nd at 4PM, with our first official meeting on the 28th at 5 PM.

Positions for Election
Chair
The Chair works closely with the Principal, Vice-Principals, staff, families, and community members to support the work of School Council. Responsibilities include chairing meetings, setting agendas in consultation with school administration, facilitating discussion, communicating with the school board, sharing relevant information with council members, and supporting council initiatives and activities throughout the school year.
Vice-Chair / Co-Chair
The Vice-Chair supports the Chair and presides over meetings when the Chair is unavailable. This role also helps coordinate and oversee council-sponsored events, programs, and initiatives.
Treasurer
The Treasurer works with the council to develop and monitor budgets, maintains accurate financial records, prepares financial reports, and serves as a liaison regarding council finances.
Secretary
The Secretary attends council meetings, records and distributes meeting minutes, and maintains council records and documentation.
Indigenous Representative
This position supports the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives and voices within School Council initiatives and discussions. As a newer role, its responsibilities will continue to evolve in collaboration with council members and the school community.
Inclusive Education Coordinator
This position helps promote inclusive practices and supports conversations related to equity, belonging, accessibility, and student success.
Fundraising Coordinator
The Fundraising Coordinator plans and organizes fundraising activities in support of School Council priorities and works closely with the Treasurer regarding budgeting and financial reporting.
We encourage all interested parents and guardians to consider becoming involved. Your voice, experiences, and perspectives help strengthen our school community and support the success and well-being of all NDSS students.

If your student requires a medical plan (i.e., Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, etc.) or is required to take medication at school, please follow the smore below and have all paperwork completed by your family doctor as soon as possible.

Concussion Protocols
The Limestone District School Board is committed to helping all students succeed and lead safe,聽healthy, and active lives. As part of its commitment to student safety, injury prevention,聽and well-being, the Ministry of Education supports concussion awareness, prevention,聽identification, management, tracking, and training in schools through legislation, policy,聽and resources.
On March 7, 2018, the Ontario government enacted Rowan鈥檚 Law (Concussion Safety),聽2018, and amended the Education Act, to protect amateur athletes, including students,聽by improving concussion safety on the field and at school. The amendments to the聽Education Act came into force on July 1, 2019, and give the Minister of Education the聽authority to require school boards to comply with policy and guidelines on concussions,聽consistent with Rowan鈥檚 Law.
All school boards in聽Ontario are required to have a policy on concussion safety for students. These are outlined in Administrative Procedure 142: Concussions, as well as a variety of supporting resources and documents that outline a code of conduct for students and families, flow charts to identify and diagnose a concussion and assessment and management forms. The Ontario Physical Activity and Safety Standards in Education has information on their website regarding the concussion protocol.
